Finally, Quetta Gladiators ended up their HBL PSL journey at a high note. The winning team clinched the PSL Trophy for the first time with an eight-wicket victory against arch-rivals Peshawer Zalmi.
The final started with Gladiators winning the toss and choosing to field first.
Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal opened the innings for Zalmi but did not live up to their expectations and unfortunately both were dismissed early without making any significant impact in the final.
However, Umar Amin showed some resistance by scoring 38 runs off 33 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes.
Zalmi finished at a disappointingly low total of 138-8 in their 20 overs.
The run chase was not so good for Quetta, as Shane Watson fell early he was run out for just seven runs. Ahmed Shehzad and Ahsan Ali somehow managed to keep the scoreboard moving with their 47-run partnership on the second wicket.
Ahsan went back to the pavilion after scoring a fighting 25, Ahmed Shehzad and Rossouw made sure that their side completes the run chase without further drama.
An unbeaten 73-run partnership on the third wicket between Shahzad and Rossouw was sufficient for the Gladiators to lift the trophy.
Shehzad top-scored with superb 58 off 51 deliveries which included six fours.
Mohammad Hasnain finished with figures of 3-30 in four overs and was given the man of the match award.
Although PSL season 4 is over, for Pakistani fans this final was not less than courage, hope, peace, love, and unity.
